I want to learn
skydiving

Ever since prehistoric times, people have looked up and dreamed of soaring through the vast sky like birds. Parachuting makes that dream a reality. At Skydive Hilversum, you can learn to fly without wings. We guide students step by step toward their first jump.

What is the static line method?

Skydive Hilversum trains all its students using the static line method. This means that you jump solo immediately, so not with an instructor as with tandem jumping or the AFF training. A long line, attached to the aircraft, opens your parachute automatically. You practice making a stable jump.

The jumpmaster assesses your exit. After that, you can concentrate on controlling the parachute and landing safely.

What can you expect?

We start on Friday evening at 19:00 and continue on Saturday at 09:00. Over the course of a day and a half, you will receive comprehensive static line training, consisting of theory lessons and practical exercises. The focus is on personal guidance; safety comes first. We therefore keep the class groups small. We conclude the training with a written test and a practical exam. You will make your first jump that very same weekend.

You can decide for yourself when to make the other four jumps. This could be, for example, on the following Sunday and subsequent weekends.

Next steps after THE training?

After your training, you will be guided to become a fully-fledged skydiver, transitioning from a Static Line parachutist. This guidance consists of training to open the parachute independently. Once this has gone well twice, you may proceed to your first freefall. This is possible after an average of ten jumps.

You will perform this first freefall from 6,000 ft, approximately 2 kilometers high. Alongside your first parachute jump, this is an experience you will never forget!

Indoor Skydive Training

At Skydive Hilversum, it is possible to receive additional training, alongside the basic static line course, to guide you towards your first freefall.

In this training, you will be briefed by experienced instructors who will instruct you in advance on how to adopt a good body posture. This is put into practice in the wind tunnel at City Skydive.

basic participation information

  • The minimum age to participate in the training is 16 years. If you are under 18, you require a signature from both parents or guardians.
  • The maximum body weight is 100 kilograms. Consult with us if you weigh slightly more.
  • Participation is for reasonably fit individuals. If you are 50 or older, an intake with an instructor will follow first, and we require a statement from a qualified physician. For those 65 or older at the time of the training, the only option available is a tandem jump.
  • Passport photo
  • Medical statement / self-declaration regarding health.
The ‘Self-declaration regarding health and fitness for practicing sport parachuting’ must be completed and signed.

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the questions, you must have the ‘Medical statement’ signed by a physician.
Bring the statement with you to the course.
We are in contact with Airlein Medical. This doctor is familiar with medical examinations for parachutists and is located at the same airfield as Skydive Hilversum. However, another doctor is also possible. Please make an appointment in time!
  • With the online version of our reader, you can already prepare for the theory.

And every Saturday of a regular course

Unbelievable. One of the best experiences of my life. I will definitely keep jumping at Skydive Hilversum for a long time to come. It’s amazing how much coaching you get to learn something new every time.

And holy sh*t, they say you only have a few first times in your life. Your first time having a beer or your first time having sex. Well, you can definitely add your first freefall jump to that list.

It’s insane how awesome this is.

This summer, I decided to go skydiving with my mother. Skydive Hilversum is a great club to practice this sport, but especially to get started. Even if you don’t know anyone yet, you are immediately welcomed into the group. Jumping out of a plane is even more fun when you do it with people you feel connected to. Together, you work towards your first freefall, and after that, it only gets better. Step by step, you progress further in your jumping career, allowing you to fully enjoy every jump.

Max Hondelink

After a tandem jump, I kept thinking back to the feeling that surfaced during the jump. So, at the beginning of this year, I signed up for a static-line course at Skydive Hilversum. After my first few jumps, I knew for sure: this is what I want to keep doing! I now jump almost every week, and because everyone is willing to help, I learn something new every time. I enjoy jumping in Hilversum the most because of the club atmosphere, the people, and the camaraderie.

Frequently Asked Questions / FAQ

Course

Do I need to take an AFF course after the Static Line course?

No, we guide you to your first freefall after the Static Line training. This can ultimately be more cost-effective; an AFF course, or Accelerated Freefall course, is considerably more expensive.

Can I reschedule my training to another weekend?

You can move your training to another training weekend without any problem. Discuss this with the training school.

What kind of clothes should I wear for my first jumps?

We will lend you an overall. You can continue wearing your own clothes underneath. Put on sturdy shoes and comfortable clothing.

General

I registered but I haven't received a confirmation?

If you have registered, our confirmation email may have ended up in your spam folder. In the email, you will already receive general information about the day in question and the medical declaration.

Can I bring a GoPro?

No, for that you need at least 200 jumps and your B license, among other things. Your jumps are filmed as much as possible by the jumpmaster and reviewed and discussed with you.

Can I do my 5 training jumps that same weekend?

That won’t work. You will make your first jump on Saturday. On Sunday, you can make a maximum of 2 or 3 jumps if everything goes smoothly. This mainly has to do with logistics – we have to drive back from the drop zone each time and then pack your parachute.

You can come and make the other jumps the weekend after that. So make sure to arrive nice and early.

If I continue jumping, what kind of equipment is best to buy first?

You can often buy second-hand or third-hand gear for a nice price, such as an altimeter, a helmet, or a jumpsuit.
